UCC Scholarship Program benefits graduates of Cloverdale High School who are the first in their families to attend college.
The primary emphasis of this scholarship is on students who are the first in their family to go to college. There is a strong “social justice” consideration in the selection of the candidate, both in terms of their own path to college, as well as their plans for using their degree to help others. Academic progress in high school, not just absolute total GPA and test scores, is a primary consideration. There is no religious requirement to receive our assistance, which is consistent with the overall philosophy of our mission projects.
$1,000 per year will continue for four years (for a $4,000 total), assuming reasonable achievement in college.
The selection team prepared the application and recommendation forms, and these have been submitted to the Cloverdale High School Guidance Counselor. We have been assured that, given the specific needs of first-time-in-family students, this will be a very sought after scholarship.
Applications are reviewed by the team after the April 1st due date. Finalists are then interviewed by the team, and a final decision is made prior to the high school’s May awards ceremony.
To apply for the upcoming school year, students and families should contact the Cloverdale High School guidance office, and submit their application prior to April 1.
Further contributions to extend or enlarge this program are gratefully accepted.
